Taxi rank brawl in York ends with two injuries

North Yorkshire Police is appealing for information following an assault at a taxi rank in Selby.The incident occurred at the James Street Taxi Rank in Selby Town Centre at approximately 1.25am on Sunday, 22 July. A man and a woman were assaulted.The woman was pushed to the ground and the man was punched in the face and required hospital treatment for facial injuries.Officers are keen to identify two suspects. The first one is described as a white woman, with long straight blonde hair, aged in her 30s to early 40s, around 5ft 10ins tall and of medium build. She was wearing a white floral tunic top and jeans.The second suspect is a white man, with short dark hair, possibly aged in his 40s, around 5ft 10ins tall and of stocky build. He was wearing a blue polo shirt and jeans.

Hamburg have chosen London's latest version of the iconic black taxi, the all new TXEcity , as their vehicle of choice to offer shuttle runs across the city on designated routes. Passengers will be able to book a journey in the new taxi which combines an electric motor with a small petrol generator, through an app by mobility service provider ioki. The new ride sharing service will see the new taxi built by the LEVC (London Electric Vehicle Company) make its German debut. The new ioki service will be fully integrated with Hamburgs public transport network, which means ride-sharing passengers will be able to use travel cards or tickets to pay for their shuttle runs. A report in the CoventryLive, confirmed that the TXE was chosen by ioki for their quick accessible shuttle run service because of its zero emissions capability and because of it's easy access for those in wheelchairs and those travelling, with prams and pushchairs.

Children Celebrate Extra Special Taxi Charity Trip to Southend-on-Sea

The London Taxi Drivers’ Fund for Underprivileged Children welcomed volunteer London taxi drivers and over 250 very excited children to the legendary annual LTFUC outing to Southend-on-Sea.

This marked an extra special trip as the charity celebrates its 90th year.

The charity run voluntary by London cabbies since 1928 enriches the lives of disadvantaged children through fundraising and hosting functions and events throughout the year.

Throughout its 90 year history, the LTFUC have provided essential funding for the purchase of recreational, technology and mobility equipment for children, schools and hospices.

Earlier this month the charity held its annual trip to Southend-on-Sea starting at Chingford in Essex.

Once all the volunteers had been fed, the taxis decorated and the children and helpers allocated to each taxi, the convoy set off for Southend-on-Sea with lights flashing and horns beeping!

On arrival at Southend the Furry Tail Folk were there to greet all the children, who were treated to lunch and then it was off to Adventure Island to enjoy the rides.

Later that afternoon coaches arrived to take the children to Cliffs Pavilion for some tea and a disco wher the Mayor of Southend also attended.

The disco ended at early evening and it was off to the taxis for departure back to Chingford.

As the convoy left Southend, the children were taken by surprise when the Leigh-on-Sea Fire Service hosed down the taxi procession as each one passed by!

I am nothing short of proud of the level of commitment from the committee, taxi drivers and everyone who gives up their time for the day to assist us, along with our sponsors. Uber driver suspended for mocking passengers during live stream of each journey

Uber have suspended one of their drivers in Missouri for violating guidelines by live streaming passengers without their consent. Some passengers, including children, were being recorded by Uber driver Jason Gargac,32, who would give a running commentary of each trip. According to a report in the CNBC who sourced the original story from the St.Louis Post-Dispatch, Gargac would frequently indulge in crude, mocking and judgmental comments of his passengers. During each live stream on his twitch account, more than 4,000 viewers would tune in the watch the real-time commentary unfold. Uber confirmed that they have suspended Gargac while they evaluate his conduct which they believe to be a breach of its standards. According to Uber's community guidelines, drivers are forbidden to demonstrate any form of inappropriate or disrespectful behaviour including commenting on someone's appearance or that are otherwise disrespectful or sexual in nature.

Gargac also drives for Uber's main US competitor, Lyft. Lyft have yet to comment on Gargac's behaviour.
