Playground built by Gett and Ex-Military coaches is unveiled in Bethnal Green Primary School by Rushanara Ali MP

Ride-hailing company Gett unveiled a new outdoor space for the children of Hague Primary School in Bethnal Green. The space was built by Gett team members and ex-military coaches and mentors from Fusion Community Initiatives. The Member of Parliament for Bethnal Green and Bow, Rushanara Ali, cut the ribbon to unveil the new recreational space to parents and pupils.

The London-based school, which has a Deaf Provision for up to 16 pupils from 3-11 years, opened the new space which was built by team members from Gett’s London office. The team participated in a one-day ‘big build’ challenge to create an outdoor play area for the children, including a covered walkway, raised planters, benches, insect house, and a mud kitchen. The project provided the Gett team with a dynamic and rewarding team-building day, whilst giving back to the local community with a strong social impact. The team, along with military veterans, completed the build within a single day. A strong mentality and positive collaborative attitude was needed to complete this community project for the school. For each individual involved - the team at Gett, Fusion Community Initiatives mentors, and the staff and children at Hague School, this project left a lasting imprint on all individuals involved, and on the local community. To officially open the space to the school’s pupils, MP Rushanara Ali attended the school to cut the ribbon. The British Labour Party politician and Associate Director of the Young Foundation welcomed the children into the playground before speaking to the teachers and parents of the school. At the event, she said: “It’s an honour to cut the ribbon and welcome the pupils of Hague Primary School into the new recreational space. A special thank you is in order for the teams at Gett and Fusion, who helped realise the school’s vision for a more stimulating playground. May their hard work inspire others to also help out and contribute to their local communities.” Gett offers black cab drivers the opportunity to sign up to Gett and pick up passengers through the app. Gett is already in more than 100 cities across Europe and the US. We have not only have gained some wonderful new equipment but also observed and learned a huge amount on how to build successful teams.”
