A popular cabbies cafe in London was closed down last week for fears over “imminent risk of injury to health”.
The Kings Cross Taxi Club was inspected by Camden council food officers on 2nd October and promptly closed down by food officers to protect the public.
At the time of the inspection, there was "an active and widespread cockroach, fruit fly and drainage fly infestation. Lack of maintenance, cleaning, unprotected food and equipment. Resulting in an imminent risk of injury to health" according to a spokesperson from Camden Council.
The council added the cafe could reopen once they undertake the specified actions listed in the officer’s report. At that point the owners at the Camley Street eatery can request to be inspected again before being given permission by the council to reopen.
The cafe has long been a popular place for some cabbies to stop due to its easy access to mainline stations King’s Cross and St Pancras, plus ample parking.
