Police drop investigation into private hire serious sexual assault

Following a media appeal for information from police, a 42-year-old man was released without charge and police are no longer investigating the alleged serious sexual assault in Motherwell.
Originally police where investigating a private hire journey which took place at around 8.30pm where two women and two men were dropped off in Glen Court by a silver Chevrolet Cruze private hire vehicle.
One of the women, aged 23, was said to have decided to get back into the vehicle and asked the driver to take her home.The minicab driver was then reported to have refused and subjected the woman to a serious sexual assault within the back of the vehicle.A 42 year old man was later arrested and now later released without charge and no further investigation. A spokesperson from Scotland Police said via Facebook: “Thanks to everyone for their assistance.”
